- Anyone interested in AI-assisted market research
STEP 1: Start with GPT-o1
To begin your analysis, open the GPT Store and search for “o1 GPT Prompt Architect.” This model helps build strong prompts tailored to your research goal. Once you find it, open the prompt architect.
STEP 2: Build your financial analyst prompt
Inside the Prompt Architect, create a custom prompt that positions GPT-o1 as your personal stock analyst.
Use this ready-made structure:
- Role: You are an experienced investment banker skilled in fundamental and technical stock analysis.
- Task: Conduct a complete review of the stock’s performance, covering financial modeling, profitability insights, and long-term projections.
- Deliverables: Provide a detailed summary of financial data, including revenue growth, important ratios, and a forecast based on present trends.
You can also create your own prompt by choosing “Input my own” and adding tailored instructions.
Example custom input:
"You are an expert in stock analysis. Analyze fundamental and technical metrics of the given stock, and provide a detailed financial model."
After completing the prompt, click Submit to generate your analysis framework.
STEP 3: Gather data with Perplexity Finance
Next, collect the financial information. Go to Perplexity.ai and use Perplexity Finance to review company profiles and stock performance data.
Search for the company profile, where you’ll find:
- Stock activity: Recent movement and historical chart data.
- Peer comparison: A view of competitors within the same industry.
- Financial data: Core metrics such as balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow details.
Once the data is ready, copy the relevant details and return to GPT-o1.
STEP 4: Review your stock data
Paste the collected financial information into the GPT-o1 prompt. GPT will process the data and produce a detailed analysis.
The output may include:
- Executive overview: A summary of the stock’s performance.
- Fundamental review: Revenue growth, profitability measures, and financial ratios.
- Technical review: Price trends, RSI, Bollinger Bands, and related indicators.
- Financial model: A forward-looking estimate based on current patterns.
- Investment view: Upsides, risks, and a final buy, hold, or sell perspective.
You can refine the response with follow-up questions like:
"How does this stock compare with its competitors?"
"How might this stock perform under different market conditions?"
STEP 5: Improve your findings
After the analysis is generated, continue testing focused follow-up questions to get deeper insights. Adjust market assumptions, request more technical detail, or ask whether the stock appears suitable as a long-term hold or sell.
Pro Tip
The more specific your financial inputs and questions are, the more useful and actionable the AI-generated insights will be.
