Read AI, a prominent meeting notetaking platform, announced the launch of Ada on Thursday, an innovative AI-powered email assistant. This new tool is designed to empower users by streamlining schedule management, providing answers based on a company's knowledge repository, and efficiently handling out-of-office email replies.

The company describes Ada as a "digital twin" capable of managing tasks around the clock. Read AI has confirmed that Ada will be accessible to all users, with configuration initiated simply by sending an email to "[email protected]" with the subject line "Get me started."

Ada's functionality extends to seamless meeting coordination. When tasked with scheduling a meeting, it communicates your availability directly to the other party within the email thread. Should the proposed times be unsuitable, Ada intelligently offers alternative slots. Crucially, while Ada accesses your calendar via Read AI, it maintains strict privacy by never disclosing the specific nature of your scheduled meetings to others.

Furthermore, Ada assists in crafting responses to inquiries received in email threads. It prepares a draft response, allowing users to review and refine it before dispatch. The startup emphasizes that Ada is programmed to never disclose sensitive information without explicit user permission, ensuring data security and control.

Justin Farris, VP of Product at Read AI, elaborated on Ada's advanced technological foundation. He stated that the new feature bypasses reliance on Model Context Protocols (MCPs), a technical standard for connecting AI tools. Instead, Ada constructs a sophisticated knowledge graph by analyzing meeting data and integrated services, enabling it to provide highly contextual and accurate answers. Farris also indicated that Ada is poised to evolve towards proactive capabilities, such as prompting users to schedule follow-up actions mentioned during meetings, complete with relevant contextual information.

“The way I describe our solution is that when you are bringing on a new employee, you train them. When you add Ada to your workflow and connect more services to give more context, it starts to ramp up and handle more tasks for you,” CEO David Shim shared with TechCrunch, illustrating Ada's learning and integration potential.

While Ada currently operates exclusively through email, Read AI has plans to expand its availability to popular communication platforms like Slack and Teams in the near future.

During a discussion at Web Summit Qatar earlier this month, CEO David Shim informed TechCrunch of Read AI's impressive growth, reporting over 5 million monthly active users and an ambitious goal to reach 10 million. He highlighted the acquisition of 50,000 new sign-ups daily and noted a broader audience of 100,000 users who consume Read AI's content, such as meeting summaries, without requiring an account.

The United States remains Read AI's largest market, complemented by robust international expansion. Despite 60% of its user base residing outside the U.S., the company's revenue distribution is remarkably balanced, split approximately equally between domestic and international markets.

In the competitive landscape, other meeting notetaking solutions are also innovating to extract greater insights and actionable intelligence. Granola, for instance, introduced "recipes" last September, offering repeatable prompts to surface knowledge from meeting data. Similarly, Quill, which recently emerged from stealth with a $6.5 million funding round, integrates with various tools like Linear, Notion, and CRMs to automate tasks and streamline workflows.
