As anticipated, Bloomberg reports that Z.ai, the maker of the GLM series, is the creator of Ox Alpha. The company confirmed that this is the latest version of their GLM family, a model previously utilized by Hugging Face to successfully defend against an attack orchestrated by OpenAI agents.
Z.ai announced that the weights for Ox Alpha will be released on Wednesday, granting developers the ability to build upon the foundation of the model. The company characterizes Ox Alpha as a reasoning model tailored for coding, sustained agentic tasks, and production environments. It is optimized for long-horizon software engineering, complex reasoning, and workflows that integrate text with visual context.
