Google's latest innovation allows users to distill their research into concise 60-second video summaries, complete with AI-generated visuals and accompanying narration.
NotebookLM, a product from Google, is introducing an innovative method for users to review their notes efficiently: AI-powered videos reminiscent of popular short-form content platforms. This functionality is being progressively launched for Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers, enabling NotebookLM to produce vertical 60-second AI clips directly from the source materials uploaded by the user.
An illustrative example provided by Google showcases this capability by detailing Australia's historical, unsuccessful conflict with emus, featuring distinctive paper cutout-style AI art of the birds synchronized with narration. This new offering complements NotebookLM's existing suite of tools for research interaction, which already includes the generation of AI podcasts, cinematic video summaries, and comprehensive visual explainers.
To create one of these 60-second clips, users can navigate to NotebookLM via the web or mobile application, select their desired notebook, and then choose "Video" from the Studio column located on the right side of the interface. Following this, they should select "Short," specify the particular topic for NotebookLM to concentrate on (or input a custom topic), and finally click the "Generate" button.
Currently, this feature is being deployed exclusively in English, with plans to extend support to free users in the near future.
