Sierra, the innovative customer service agent startup spearheaded by Bret Taylor, announced on Thursday its acquisition of Fragment, a French startup backed by Y Combinator specializing in integrating artificial intelligence into business workflows.
This marks Sierra's third publicly disclosed acquisition, underscoring its rapid expansion. The company previously acquired Opera Tech, a Japan-based enterprise AI solutions provider, and Receptive AI, a voice agent company, both announced in late March. As part of the Fragment acquisition, its co-founders, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial, will integrate into the Sierra team.
In a joint blog post, Sierra co-founders Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor emphasized that Moindrot and Genthial are expected to contribute "valuable strength" to Sierra's "agent development efforts in France." While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, PitchBook estimates that Fragment had previously secured approximately $2 million through its seed funding round.
Bret Taylor, who also holds the position of chairman of the board at OpenAI, co-founded Sierra with Google alumnus Clay Bavor following his departure as co-CEO of Salesforce in early 2023. Sierra has rapidly garnered an impressive client roster, including Casper, Clear, and Brex. To date, the startup has raised over $630 million in funding from prominent investors like Sequoia and Benchmark, propelling its valuation to an impressive $10 billion.
