YouTube Introduces AI Tool for Custom Music Creation
YouTube unveils a free AI music-making tool, enabling creators to generate custom tracks for their videos with ease.

Originally reported bytechcrunch
YouTube has announced the launch of a new feature that allows creators to generate custom instrumental music using artificial intelligence. This update, shared on its Creator Insider channel, is rolling out gradually to users who have access to Creator Music, a resource designed to simplify music licensing for content creators.
Since its debut in 2023, Creator Music has provided a platform for creators to find, understand, and license music for their videos. The addition of AI-generated music offers a free option for those looking to enhance their projects without the concern of copyright issues.
The new tool features a "Music Assistant" tab within the Creator Music interface. Here, creators can input their music preferences in a free text field. They can specify various aspects such as instruments, mood, and the type of video they are producing.
To help users get started, suggested prompts are provided beneath the text box, making the process straightforward and accessible. Once the music tracks are generated, creators can easily download these custom tunes and incorporate them into their videos at no cost.
This feature is available to creators within the YouTube Partner Program in the United States. YouTube previously tested a similar AI music creation feature called "Dream Track," powered by DeepMind’s Lyria. This earlier tool allowed users to create 30-second instrumental pieces styled after popular artists, but it has now pivoted to focus on offering completely original tracks through the new system.
With this innovative addition, YouTube continues to strengthen its support for creators, equipping them with tools that foster creativity and originality in video content. The move highlights YouTube's commitment to enhancing user experience while navigating the intricacies of music licensing in the digital age.
