Mesh, the advanced relationship manager and personal CRM platform acquired last year by Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, has officially launched for Android users. This sophisticated software empowers individuals to privately visualize and meticulously track their personal and professional connections, append detailed notes to contact information, and receive timely reminders for follow-ups.

Automattic has meticulously optimized Mesh’s Android application to seamlessly integrate with core platform functionalities, including split-screen and pop-up views. This thoughtful design enables users to effortlessly access Mesh while simultaneously engaging with other applications such as messaging or email clients. Furthermore, the app supports a range of features tailored for the Android ecosystem, including keyboard shortcuts for foldable devices and tablets, robust in-app search capabilities, customizable home screen widgets that adopt Material You colors to match the device's wallpaper, and real-time synchronization across all user devices.

Looking ahead, Automattic envisions a deeper integration for Mesh with its comprehensive messaging application, Beeper. Beeper serves as an all-in-one hub for connecting across numerous platforms, encompassing popular services like WhatsApp, Instagram, Signal, Messenger, X, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, and Google Messages, among others.

Currently, Mesh and Beeper already exhibit a degree of interoperability, allowing Mesh users to initiate text drafts within Beeper or utilize deep links within the app to access a Mesh user's profile. The company is committed to progressively introducing advanced AI features designed to significantly enhance the productivity of users across both products in managing their personal relationships.

“We’re thinking a lot about how can AI help you be a better friend and have better work and personal relationships?,” Mesh co-founder Zachary Hamed remarked in a TechCrunch interview earlier this spring. He further elaborated on the challenges faced by users with extensive networks, stating, “We have users who have ten-, twenty-, or fifty-thousand connections across multiple social media apps, across their work products. It’s an impossible task to think and be conscientious with you, with each of those people, by yourself.”

Mesh’s Nexus AI is presently in early access, providing an innovative way to leverage artificial intelligence for network navigation. This functionality allows users to pose specific queries, such as identifying contacts at a particular company, those residing in a certain city, or individuals possessing expertise in a given topic. The company is also actively exploring the implementation of AI technology to deliver a voice-based, hands-free user experience and to refine its business card scanning feature.

Crucially, Mesh emphasizes that personal information stored within the platform is neither shared nor utilized for advertising purposes. The product's operational model is sustained through subscriptions, offering a free tier for up to 1,000 contacts, with higher-tiered plans available for unlimited contacts and additional premium features.

While Mesh may consider offering bundled subscriptions with Beeper or other Automattic products in the future, there are no immediate announcements regarding such initiatives at this time.

A significant portion of Mesh's current clientele, approximately 70%, utilizes the application for various business purposes. Mesh co-founder Matthew Achariam identifies the platform's ideal users as executives managing larger teams or professionals with close-knit networks requiring consistent engagement. Nevertheless, the company remains attentive to the broader consumer use case.

“The beauty of [serving business users] is that the same things they’re using apply to every individual consumer. So every feature that we think about has to apply to both,” Achariam highlighted, underscoring the universal applicability of Mesh’s features.

Mesh, previously known as Clay, is now available for download from Google Play across phones, tablets, and foldable devices. It is offered as a free download with optional in-app purchases.
