xAI has launched the iOS app for its Grok chatbot in the US, marking a significant step in making advanced AI tools widely accessible.
Previously available only to X Premium subscribers, Grok is now open to all users, putting it on par with free-to-use chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini.
The app, currently in beta, performs real-time information processing, answers user questions, and even generates images, much like its integrated version within the X platform.
Testing of the standalone app began in December in select countries, but there is no confirmation on when it will be available for Android users.
In addition to the app, xAI appears to be developing a dedicated Grok.com website, which is currently marked as “coming soon.” This move aligns with the company’s efforts to broaden its AI reach.
Following substantial funding rounds in June and later in the year, xAI secured a total of $12 billion, supported by strategic investors, including Nvidia and AMD.
These investments underline the company’s commitment to advancing AI-driven tools for a broader audience. Grok’s release highlights xAI’s ambition to compete with leading chatbots by offering innovative features through an easy-to-use platform.
