Building on a previous report concerning social media "clippers" who are compensated to discreetly promote various media through anonymous accounts, one such campaign was identified as promoting Perplexity AI, an "answer engine." However, the precise individuals or entities responsible for these promotional clips remain undisclosed.
When contacted for comment via email, Perplexity AI distanced itself from the clipping company Vyro. Spokesperson Jesse Dwyer stated that Perplexity "has no knowledge" of the company and "takes any unauthorized use of the Perplexity name or logo very seriously." When pressed by The Verge to confirm that Perplexity had not initiated or authorized any clipping campaigns, Dwyer initially ceased communication. Following the article's publication, Dwyer informed The Verge that it was "not accurate" to assert Perplexity had launched the clipping campaign.
