A top executive at a Singapore AI cloud firm accused of illegally selling Nvidia chips to China is suspected of being a Chinese spy, according to anonymous sources from the New York Times.

The executive, identified as Alice Huang (also known as Huang Le), worked for Megaspeed and was photographed among others hanging out with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during business dinners in Singapore.

U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly surveilled Alice Huang for approximately a year to investigate her connections with China.

The primary concern was that her close proximity to Jensen Huang could have allowed her to gather sensitive information regarding Nvidia's strategies and the CEO's diplomatic efforts to convince the Trump Administration to lift restrictions on advanced technology shipments to China.

Nvidia, however, refuted these claims. A spokesperson stated that the CEO's relationship with the Megaspeed executive was consistent with interactions held with any other regional client.

“Jensen’s interactions with Ms. Huang are not unusual or unexpected. Meetings with customers are part of a C.E.O.’s job; Jensen talks with thousands of customer executives every year,” the spokesperson told TechCrunch in an email. The company further asserted that its regional cloud clients receive standard business information rather than sensitive trade secrets or data related to national security.

This investigation follows a 2025 report from the Times indicating that the Commerce Department looked into Megaspeed for allegedly assisting Chinese firms in bypassing AI chip export regulations by reselling restricted chips. At that time, Alice Huang was listed as a top executive at the company.
