Square is introducing a new piece of hardware designed to streamline ordering processes through advanced technology.

The new device, known as the Square Kiosk, is a large touchscreen kiosk that allows customers to interact with a conversational AI assistant to place their orders.

Square describes the Kiosk as featuring a "large pill shape" with an "agentic, conversational voice layer." This system is designed to fully understand a seller's menu and listen and respond in real time, enabling customers to order in a natural, conversational manner similar to speaking with a human staff member. Users can engage in dynamic interactions, such as asking questions or requesting specific modifications and substitutions.

Technical specifications include a 21.5-inch touchscreen. Additionally, the device utilizes presence detection to welcome customers as they approach. Payment processing is flexible, supporting both contactless payment readers and traditional card slots.

The Square Kiosk is available starting today. It is priced at $1,999 upfront for businesses with a Square Plus or Premium subscription, along with an additional $99-per-device monthly software fee.
