Spur Intelligence, a cybersecurity startup located in Lake Mary, Florida, has successfully secured $200 million in a funding round spearheaded by Insight Partners.
Founded in 2017, a full five years before ChatGPT's public introduction, Spur demonstrated remarkable foresight. The startup's innovative technology empowers enterprises to accurately differentiate between authentic human users and increasingly sophisticated, well-concealed bot traffic, thereby effectively identifying fraudulent users and emerging threats.
Thomas Krane of Insight Partners articulated the gravity of the situation in a written statement, observing, "As sophisticated criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure proliferate, organizations are increasingly operating with a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it."
While corporate security teams have long grappled with the challenge of detecting malicious traffic, the current scale of the onslaught is unprecedented. A recent report from Cloudflare last month revealed a significant milestone: as of mid-2026, bots have surpassed human activity to become the dominant presence on the internet.
Further emphasizing this shift, Cloudflare founder and CEO Matthew Prince shared on X last month, referencing his company's latest traffic report: "Thought it would be end of 2027, then early 2027, but agentic traffic growing so fast that bots have now passed human traffic online for the first time in the Internet’s history."
