OpenAI's ChatGPT, xAI's Grok, and Anthropic's Claude are all currently experiencing service disruptions.
At around 11 AM ET, ChatGPT began returning error messages for users trying to access the chatbot, with its status page indicating there are currently “elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex.”
Users also began experiencing problems with Claude around the same time. Although Anthropic's status page initially indicated an outage starting around 10:30 AM ET that impacted Mythos/Fable 5.1, Mythos/Fable 5, Opus 5, Opus 4.8, and Opus 4.6, the company has since updated its status to state that the disruption is now limited to Opus 4.8 and Opus 5.
xAI’s Grok is similarly facing an outage across its mobile application and website. The company confirmed that it is “working on restoring service as quickly as possible.”
The underlying cause of the issues remains unclear, and it is unknown whether the problems are related. OpenAI states that it has applied a mitigation and is “monitoring recovery,” while Anthropic’s status page notes that it is “continuing to work on a fix.” The Verge has reached out to OpenAI, xAI, and Anthropic with a request for comment but did not immediately hear back.
