Samsung Launches Galaxy S25 Series, Showcasing AI and Custom Chip
Originally reported bycnbc
Samsung has introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 series, featuring advanced AI capabilities and a custom Snapdragon processor. The lineup includes three models: the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, with prices starting at $799, $999, and $1,299, respectively.  Preorders are open now, and the devices will hit shelves on February 7. The S25 showcases Samsung’s growing focus on integrating artificial intelligence, building on last year’s introduction of Galaxy AI. New AI functionalities enable users to perform complex tasks across multiple apps, such as scheduling events or finding pet-friendly restaurants to share with contacts.  These features are compatible with third-party apps like Spotify and WhatsApp, as well as Samsung and Google apps. The AI enhancements aim to create a more personalized user experience by adapting to individual preferences and usage habits. Samsung’s custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor powers the S25 series, delivering faster performance while optimizing energy efficiency for AI applications. The company also highlighted updates to the S25 Ultra’s camera and a refined design with rounded corners, marking a shift from the angular look of previous models. Industry analysts note that while the S25 introduces innovative AI features and hardware improvements, it faces challenges in persuading users to upgrade their devices prematurely. Samsung’s smartphone shipments dropped 2.7% year-over-year in the fourth quarter, with increased competition from Apple and Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Vivo. Despite these hurdles, the S25 series targets consumers who are due for an upgrade after three or four years, offering a compelling package of performance and functionality. As the battle for dominance in AI-powered devices intensifies, Samsung aims to leverage the S25’s advanced capabilities to distinguish itself in a highly competitive market.
