Luca Guadagnino's upcoming film, *Artificial*, which chronicles the dramatic 2023 week surrounding OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's brief ousting and subsequent reinstatement, has reportedly been dropped by Amazon MGM.

In development for approximately a year, this project promised an intimate look at the tumultuous five-day period of Altman's termination and eventual return as CEO. The ensemble cast features Andrew Garfield in the lead role, alongside Monica Barbaro as OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, Ike Barinholtz portraying Elon Musk, and Yura Borisov as OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever.

Addressing the development, Amazon MGM issued a statement to *Deadline*, asserting that the movie "will be better served if it were released by a different studio" and confirmed their commitment to "working closely with the filmmaking team to find the film a new home." The initial report regarding the studio's decision originated from *Puck*.

This move by Amazon MGM comes amid significant business ties between Amazon and OpenAI. In February, Amazon announced a substantial $50 billion investment in the prominent AI research laboratory.
