Indian startup Rocket is poised to revolutionize the initial stages of product development, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence to guide individuals and businesses in conceptualizing what to build. The company has unveiled a new platform designed to generate sophisticated, consulting-grade product strategies.
Launched this Tuesday, Rocket 1.0, developed by the Surat, India-based startup, integrates research, product construction, and competitive intelligence into a cohesive workflow. This innovative platform is capable of producing comprehensive product strategy documents, complete with recommendations on pricing, unit economics, and robust go-to-market approaches.
In an era where AI-powered coding tools, such as Cursor, Replit, Lovable, Claude Code, and Codex, have made writing code significantly more accessible and rapid, Rocket identifies a critical unmet need. Vishal Virani, co-founder and CEO of Rocket, remarked, “Everyone can generate the code now… it has become a commodity. But what to build is something which everyone is missing,” further emphasizing that “running a business and just building a codebase are two different things.”
Ahead of its official launch, TechCrunch conducted a brief evaluation of Rocket’s platform, observing its ability to swiftly generate product requirement documents in PDF format from straightforward prompts. These outputs were noted for their resemblance to professional consulting reports, distinguishing them from typical "vibe coding" tools or chatbots that primarily focus on features and execution.
It was noted, however, that some of the analysis appeared to be a synthesis of existing data, incorporating established pricing models, user behavior patterns, and competitive insights, rather than relying on independently verifiable information. This suggests users may still need to validate the platform's outputs before making pivotal business decisions. Virani assured that the platform offers human support to users encountering any issues.
Beyond strategic planning, the product also offers robust competitive tracking, monitoring changes to rivals' websites and analyzing traffic trends. Virani confirmed that Rocket’s analytical engine draws upon an extensive network of over 1,000 data sources, including Meta’s ad libraries, Similarweb’s API, and its proprietary crawlers.
Rocket offers a range of subscription plans tailored to different needs, starting at $25 per month for application building functionalities. More advanced strategy and research capabilities are available for $250 per month, while the complete platform, encompassing competitive intelligence, is priced at $350 per month.
Virani informed TechCrunch that the $250 plan is capable of generating two to three "McKinsey-grade" research reports in conjunction with product builds. This positions Rocket’s higher-tier offerings as a cost-effective alternative to traditional consulting services, which typically command thousands of dollars for comparable strategic work.
In September, Rocket successfully secured a $15 million seed funding round from prominent investors including Accel, Salesforce Ventures, and Together Fund. Since then, the company reports a substantial growth in its user base, expanding from 400,000 to over 1.5 million users across 180 countries. While specific paying customer numbers were not disclosed, Rocket reported an annualized average revenue per user in the range of approximately $4,000 and boasts gross margins exceeding 50%, with small and medium-sized businesses constituting 20–30% of its customer base.
Rocket currently employs a team of 57 individuals, with its headquarters situated in Surat, India, and additional operational presence in Palo Alto.
