Reflection AI Raises $130M to Build Fully Autonomous Coding Systems

Reflection AI has emerged from stealth, announcing a $130 million funding round to develop autonomous coding systems that go beyond AI-assisted development. The funding includes a $25 million seed round led by Sequoia Capital and CRV, followed by a $105 million Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and CRV.  Founded by former Google DeepMind researchers Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, the company is focused on creating fully autonomous AI tools capable of handling complex coding tasks without human intervention.  Unlike existing AI coding assistants, Reflection AI aims to develop superintelligent systems that can independently write, test, and deploy code, seamlessly integrating into engineering workflows. CRV emphasized that Reflection AI’s innovations could revolutionize industries by accelerating software development cycles, automating complex code migrations, and proactively addressing cybersecurity threats before they escalate. Lightspeed Venture Partners noted that Reflection AI's approach to scaling large language models through reinforcement learning moves AI closer to achieving superintelligence.
