“Reddit Answers” Conversational AI for Better User Search

Reddit has introduced a new AI-powered conversational tool called “Reddit Answers” to enhance users' search experience. The purpose of this new feature is to provide concise and curated answers to user questions by providing relevant information from real conversations across the platform.  It not only simplifies the search process but also allows users to explore threads and communities more effectively, giving them direct access to authentic advice and recommendations. For example, when a user asks, “What are some tips for better sleep?” the system provides a summarized response that is totally based on the user's input, presented in a conversational style similar to AI services like ChatGPT and Perplexity.  Apart from these benefits, it also offers references to related threads, which allow users to pen those references and explore many other discussions if needed. The purpose of it is to create a seamless, AI-enhanced search experience that provides the way users seek advice and information on the platform.  In a blog post, Reddit says the new feature will provide users with a new way to get the recommendations, information, discussion, and other things they are looking for. It makes Reddit a better competitor with AI giants like OpenAI and Google while keeping its unique presence.  The following feature is currently in its testing phase, and a limited group of users can access it in English if they are located in the U.S. The platform plans to expand to more countries and introduce multilingual support as development progresses.  Reddit confirmed that Reddit Answers is powered by in-house AI technology, expanded by integrations with models from OpenAI and Google Cloud.
