Quora’s Poe Introduces AI App Creator for Custom AI-Powered Tools
Originally reported bytechcrunch
Quora’s Poe platform, which integrates multiple AI models, has introduced a new feature called Poe Apps. This allows users to create custom AI-powered applications using its App Creator tool. Users can describe the app they want to build, specifying the AI models they prefer, such as OpenAI’s o3-mini or Google’s Veo 2.  Powered by Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet, the tool translates descriptions into functional apps by generating code and logic using JavaScript. These apps can work alongside Poe’s chatbot or as fully visual tools, with the option to manually tweak the underlying code. Quora has showcased a few example apps, including one that turns photos into 3D anime-style images using OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Black Forest Labs’ Flux-Pro-1.1. Another example utilizes Bria’s Bria Eraser model to remove unwanted objects from images. Currently, Poe Apps can be shared only on the web, but Quora plans to extend support to iOS and Android soon. Each AI model-powered app draws from a user's Poe point balance. Free users receive a daily point limit, while Poe’s $5 monthly premium plan offers more flexibility with point allocation. Quora also hinted at potential app monetization in the future, stating that this is just the beginning of a long-term plan to empower creators. The company aims to improve Poe Apps as AI models become better at writing and optimizing code.Poe Apps expands on the web apps feature launched by Poe last July and is similar to Anthropic’s Artifacts and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Canvas. These tools provide dedicated spaces for editing and enhancing AI-generated content such as code and documents. While current AI-generated apps are relatively simple, they highlight the growing capabilities of AI in coding and app development, paving the way for more advanced user-created tools in the future.
