Picsart, the AI-powered design platform, is set to launch an innovative AI agent marketplace. This new offering will enable creators to enlist AI assistants for a variety of specialized tasks, such as resizing and remixing social media content or refining product imagery for Shopify stores.

Serving over 130 million global users, predominantly from Gen Z, Picsart positions itself as a more advanced alternative to Canva for content creators and social media professionals. The company achieved unicorn status in 2021 amidst a booming creator economy and has maintained its market relevance by consistently enhancing its AI-driven product suite to meet evolving demands.

The timing of this marketplace launch appears strategic, given the recent surge in demand for agentic AI chatbots capable of performing tasks akin to a personal assistant, fueled by viral projects like OpenClaw.

Hovhannes Avoyan, Picsart’s founder and CEO, articulated the shift in a statement: “Creators have been stuck as the operator of every workflow — the one doing, not deciding. Our Agents change that relationship — you set direction, the agent builds a plan using real data, you approve, it executes.”

Picsart plans to introduce new specialized agents each week, commencing with four distinct options for creators: Flair, Resize Pro, Remix, and Swap.

The Flair agent stands out as particularly sophisticated, integrating directly with Shopify to serve as an assistant for online store owners. It analyzes market trends to offer actionable recommendations, such as suggesting edits to product photos for a more cohesive aesthetic. Future updates for Flair will include the ability to conduct A/B tests and identify underperforming products, proactively proposing strategies to boost sales.

The Resize Pro agent intelligently resizes images and videos to meet the recommended dimensions for various platforms. Crucially, it leverages AI to generatively extend the frame if the original media isn't suitable for a particular size, ensuring that resized visuals appear intentionally composed rather than haphazardly cropped.

The Remix agent empowers creators to apply specific styles, such as “vintage film,” “watercolor,” or “cyberpunk,” to an existing photo library, transforming its overall theme. Additionally, the Swap agent facilitates bulk changes to photo backgrounds, streamlining significant editing tasks.

For agents like Flair, which operate asynchronously behind the scenes to analyze data, the integration with messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram will prove highly beneficial. Picsart has specifically integrated with these platforms due to their APIs supporting AI chatbot development, with potential for broader functionality as more platforms adopt similar tools.

“As agents extend to messaging apps creators already use, that conversation happens anywhere — at your desk or from the subway,” Avoyan further noted, emphasizing the convenience this integration offers.

While AI agents, particularly those based on LLMs, carry inherent risks such as the potential for hallucination or unintended actions, Picsart addresses these concerns by allowing users to define “autonomy levels” for agents like Flair. This feature enables creators to require approval before any action is taken. Furthermore, these agents are anticipated to be less susceptible to prompt injection attacks compared to more public-facing AI tools, assuming Picsart maintains a focus on agents that do not directly interact with customers or the broader internet.

Consistent with many AI tools, Picsart offers a free plan that includes a limited number of AI credits weekly. For significantly expanded capabilities, users can subscribe to premium plans, starting at approximately $10 per month when billed annually. Access to the AI agent features will likely necessitate a paid subscription.
