OpenAI has announced the discontinuation of a key feature, which enabled users to edit code or text concurrently with ChatGPT. This functionality, known as Canvas, will no longer be accessible with the forthcoming GPT-5.5 Instant and GPT-5.5 Thinking models. However, current ChatGPT subscribers will still be able to utilize Canvas for a “limited time” by accessing legacy models.
In a parallel effort to enhance user experience, OpenAI is also focused on improving the readability of GPT-5.5 Instant’s responses. This initiative involves trimming the overall length of outputs and reducing reliance on “bullet-heavy” text, aiming for more concise and digestible content.
