According to a report from The Washington Post, one ChatGPT-generated article appeared in a local Florida newspaper under the fake byline of “Ervin Hoskins.”

OpenAI revealed that “Hoskins” was just one of seven fake bylines used in a series of AI-generated articles. These articles were created by users issuing commands in Persian, and the company determined that the operations were orchestrated by a commercial entity acting as a “for-hire influence campaign.”

In addition to the Iranian operations, OpenAI stated that it has also removed Russian accounts associated with a fake “think tank” based in Latin America.
