OpenAI has announced a significant leadership change, appointing Dali Rajic, former president and chief operating officer of Wiz, as its new chief revenue officer. This move follows the departure of Denise Dresser, who held the top sales position for only nine months.

This executive transition is part of a broader organizational restructuring that has unfolded over the past month. Recent high-profile departures include COO Brad Lightcap and Fidji Simo, CEO of AGI deployment, who was considered the company's second-highest-ranking executive.

Following Simo’s exit, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has assumed an expanded management role. Brockman formally announced Rajic’s arrival today via a blog post. Rajic’s previous company, Wiz, was notably acquired by Google earlier this year for $32 billion, marking the tech giant’s largest acquisition to date.

Reflecting on the change, Brockman stated, "Denise has led our revenue organization through a formative period for the business and has worked tirelessly to get the team to where it is today." He further articulated the vision for Rajic's role, adding, "The way we’re deploying this technology is changing rapidly, and Dali will turn what we’ve learned into repeatable execution as we build out the full system to make AI broadly useful for people and businesses."

Despite OpenAI's products reaching an impressive milestone of over one billion weekly active users and serving two million businesses, executives have reportedly indicated, both privately and publicly, that the company has not yet achieved all of its ambitious revenue targets.

The company has confidentially submitted filings to the SEC in anticipation of a potential initial public offering, though the exact timing remains unconfirmed. It is a common strategy for private companies to bolster their executive leadership ahead of a public market debut. OpenAI recently executed a tender offer, purchasing $7 billion worth of shares from employees this week, allowing them to monetize a portion of their equity compensation, which some analysts suggest could indicate a deferment of its public offering.

Bloomberg News, in its coverage of these executive shifts, referenced an OpenAI blog post that initially emphasized a "relentless focus" on "measurable business impact." However, these specific comments appear to have been subsequently removed from the published version of the post.

This year, CEO Sam Altman has consistently highlighted the company's strategic pivot towards enterprise deployment, concurrently scaling back technology projects and experiments perceived as detracting from this core objective.
