Following the recent dismissal of Elon Musk's lawsuit, which posed a significant challenge to OpenAI's organizational structure, leadership, and financial stability, the artificial intelligence powerhouse is reportedly poised to advance with its initial public offering, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is said to be targeting a public listing for his company as early as September. The creator of ChatGPT has been collaborating with prominent technology IPO advisors, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, and may confidentially submit its IPO documentation to regulatory bodies in the coming days or weeks, as reported by the WSJ.

This development regarding OpenAI's highly anticipated IPO, which is widely expected to be a monumental event, emerges concurrently with the global anticipation for the public release of SpaceX's IPO filings, reportedly scheduled for as early as Wednesday. The rocket manufacturer, SpaceX, has become a significant rival to OpenAI, particularly after its acquisition of Elon Musk's AI model developer, xAI.

With Musk's unsuccessful attempt to undermine OpenAI, a competitor he co-founded, through legal action, the next significant confrontation between Musk and Altman appears set to unfold in the financial markets. The question now looms: which company will command the larger initial public offering?

OpenAI did not immediately provide a response when approached for comment.
