Nvidia CEO Rejects Claims of Tension With OpenAI
Originally reported bytheverge

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang denied reports claiming he was unhappy with OpenAI, insisting the company still intends to make a major investment in the creator of ChatGPT. Speaking to reporters in Taipei, Huang dismissed the rumors as “nonsense,” pushing back on speculation that Nvidia was reconsidering its financial plans. In September, the company announced that it would invest up to $ 100 billion in OpenAI, but recent discussions suggested the deal could be at risk. When asked whether Nvidia would commit more than that earlier amount, Huang said it would not be anything close to 100 billion dollars, but he stressed that the company’s support remained strong.

Huang emphasized his confidence in OpenAI and praised the work led by its CEO, Sam Altman. According to comments reported by Reuters, he described OpenAI as one of the most important companies of this era and said he enjoyed working with Altman. He explained that Nvidia plans to take part in the company’s latest investment round and expects to contribute a significant amount. While he did not confirm a final figure, he suggested it would be one of Nvidia’s biggest investments to date.

Huang also addressed the broader relationship between Nvidia and OpenAI, which has played a major role in the rapid growth of artificial intelligence. Nvidia’s chips power many of the systems behind advanced AI tools, including OpenAI’s models. The companies have worked closely as AI demand has surged worldwide, and Huang’s comments appear aimed at calming concerns that the partnership may be weakening. The renewed attention followed speculation that internal disagreements or market conditions could disrupt the planned funding.

By rejecting that narrative, Huang made clear Nvidia still views OpenAI as a central player in the industry and a key partner in future projects. He repeated that the investment process is ongoing and expressed confidence that Altman will close the round soon. Despite stepping back from the idea of a 100 billion dollar figure, Huang said Nvidia will “absolutely” be involved and reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to OpenAI’s work.
