Notion Integrates GPT-4.1 and Claude 3.7 in All-in-One AI Toolkit

Productivity platform Notion has integrated OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 and Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 into its workspace, reinforcing its commitment to AI-driven enterprise tools. This strategic update enhances Notion’s newly launched all-in-one AI toolkit, featuring capabilities like real-time chat with large language models (LLMs), AI-powered meeting notes, enterprise-level search, and an innovative research mode—all aimed at reducing the need to switch between apps or contexts. Notion users can now directly chat with GPT-4.1 or Claude 3.7 within the platform, switching between models based on specific needs such as conversational tone, coding support, or faster response times. The feature, currently supporting only these two models, enables seamless interaction without leaving the Notion workspace. Early adopters of this enhanced functionality include OpenAI, Ramp, Vercel, and Harvey. According to Notion AI Engineering Lead Sarah Sachs, the models were fine-tuned based on internal usage and tester feedback to ensure low-latency performance without compromising on safety, accuracy, or data privacy. Sachs explained that this tailored approach helps Notion AI better understand business needs, delivering fast, relevant answers while maintaining compliance standards. In addition to smart chatting, Notion AI can now transcribe and summarize meetings when integrated with users' calendars. Its enterprise search tool connects with apps like Slack, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, Google Drive, SharePoint, and Gmail to locate information across organizational documents. The new Research Mode lets users generate documents directly from within Notion, using both internal and web data.Despite allowing access to OpenAI and Anthropic models, Notion competes directly with them and others in the AI productivity space. Yet, the company positions itself uniquely by bundling these features into one unified, subscription-based platform.
