Nothing, the startup known for the distinctive Nothing Phone, is developing an AI-focused offering, though its specific nature remains a mystery.
On Wednesday, CEO Carl Pei took to X to announce that the company's first "AI-native product" will ship in December.
Pei emphasized that the device is a tool, but one crafted with the personality and attention to detail that define Nothing. He clarified that the item lacks a new screen and cannot be classified as a standard app.
This announcement follows previous teasers regarding an AI-first device, as Nothing has also indicated intentions to release a pair of AI-linked smart glasses and earbuds featuring AI integrations.
Pei's description suggests a screenless, non-app solution that functions as a productivity tool. However, he intentionally avoids linking the product directly to AI wearables like pendants or pins.
He shared his perspective on the current market landscape, noting that the industry is searching for its "iPhone moment." Pei wrote, "The whole industry is hunting for its iPhone moment: the pendant, the pin, the glasses, the companion, some magical consumer device that makes AI part of everyone’s life. I admire the boldness, but I read this moment differently."
While a precise release date is not set, Nothing enthusiasts can expect to learn the details of the company's plans shortly.
