Users can now create and edit documents and presentations directly within Claude chat sessions.
Anthropic is introducing two new tools, Docs and Slides, which allow users to generate presentations and documents directly through chat interfaces. These files can be exported, manually edited, and shared with other users.
The company is also streamlining the user experience by merging regular conversations and the Cowork feature into a unified “one Claude” interface. This update ensures that all productivity tools, including Artifacts and Claude Design, are accessible from every conversation. Anthropic notes that the AI can now identify task requirements, ensuring that specific capabilities are available within any context.
Claude Docs and Slides are currently in beta and join Claude Design as part of the platform's productivity suite. Users can request the AI to generate documents or slide decks from any conversation, with the option to request further AI modifications or manual editing.
Similar to Google Docs, documents created in Claude Docs begin as private files but can be shared via a link for real-time collaboration. Collaborators, including the AI itself, can leave comments that resemble those found in Google Docs. Anthropic emphasizes that all content created with these tools is accessible via a single shareable link compatible with mobile devices.
While Anthropic’s models are often considered more advanced, Google has maintained an edge with native integration into its productivity suite. Google recently enhanced Gemini’s capabilities within Docs, Sheets, and Slides. However, the addition of Docs and Slides to Claude helps bridge this gap, providing users with compelling reasons to stay within the Claude ecosystem.
The rollout for the “one Claude” interface is scheduled to begin for Pro and Max users on web, desktop, and mobile platforms over the coming weeks, with Team and Free users to follow later. Anthropic assures users that there is no configuration required, allowing for seamless adoption of the new features.
