Nadella Reveals Nearly 30% of Microsoft’s Code Is AI-Written

At Meta’s LlamaCon conference on Tuesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that artificial intelligence is responsible for writing between 20% and 30% of the code within Microsoft’s internal repositories. He shared this during a fireside chat with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who asked about the extent of AI involvement in Microsoft’s software development. Nadella explained that the level of AI-generated code varies by programming language, noting better outcomes in Python than in C++, where progress has been slower.
