Meta to Unveil New AI Models and Commerce Tools in 2026
Originally reported bytechcrunch

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company will introduce new AI models and products over the coming months, with a significant focus on AI-driven commerce. During an investor call, Zuckerberg revealed that the company had rebuilt the foundations of its AI program in 2025, with new models expected to be rolled out in the near future. He highlighted AI-powered shopping tools as a key area of focus, aiming to create personalized shopping experiences for users by leveraging Meta's vast personal data to better understand their interests and needs.

Zuckerberg's comments align with broader industry trends, as companies like Google and OpenAI have already developed platforms that enable agent-enabled transactions. Meta’s advantage, according to Zuckerberg, lies in its access to detailed user data, which will allow the company to deliver highly personalized experiences. The AI models that Meta is developing are expected to play a central role in enabling these "agentic shopping tools," which will help users find relevant products from businesses within Meta’s catalog.

In December, Meta acquired Manus, a developer of general-purpose AI agents, which Zuckerberg believes will further strengthen the company’s capabilities in this area. Meta plans to integrate Manus's technology into its own products while continuing to operate it as a standalone service. The company’s efforts in AI are supported by a significant increase in capital expenditures, with Meta planning to invest between $115 billion and $135 billion in infrastructure throughout 2026, up from $72 billion in 2025. This includes funding for the Meta Superintelligence Labs, which will be critical for advancing AI-driven products.

While some investors have criticized Meta for not clearly outlining how these AI investments will affect the company’s financial performance, Zuckerberg emphasized that the upcoming year will be pivotal for delivering new AI products, which he believes will help accelerate Meta's business and shape the company’s future. With major infrastructure investments and AI models in the pipeline, Meta is positioning itself to lead in AI-driven commerce and personal superintelligence.
