Meta is enabling users to integrate their Muse AI agent directly with custom hardware setups, whether for personal displays or a Raspberry Pi.
The tech giant has open-sourced the necessary code, allowing developers and hobbyists to build their own Muse devices featuring the company's new AI agent. Suggested projects include loading the agent onto a color E Ink display for reminders, integrating it into an HDMI stick for large-screen viewing, or mounting it on a small touchscreen to create a DIY Muse Charm.
“Muse gadgets are open source devices you build yourself,” Meta stated. Users can program an off-the-shelf ESP32 board or set up a Raspberry Pi using their SDKs to connect Muse to various peripherals like displays, buttons, sensors, and actuators. The company, however, advises users to “Proceed at your own risk!”
Additionally, Meta is distributing a pre-made Muse Home Link device. This gadget utilizes community-built skills to enable the AI agent to control smart home devices such as lights, televisions, and printers. According to Nat Friedman from Meta Superintelligence Labs, 5,000 units have been manufactured. Interested users can join the waitlist now, with shipping expected later this month.
