Meta Plans for Its Own AI-Powered Search Engine!

Meta is gearing up to launch an AI-powered search engine to lessen its reliance on Google and Microsoft, as reported by The Information. This innovative engine will provide AI-generated summaries of current events through the Meta AI chatbot, promising to elevate user experience and transform the way we access information online.

In July, OpenAI launched a prototype search engine called “SearchGPT,” planning to integrate it into ChatGPT soon. Similarly, a Bloomberg report on October 2 revealed that Apple is looking to replace some of Google’s search features with its own AI tools.

Recently, on October 25, Meta announced a multiyear partnership with Reuters to add AI-powered chat functions to its platforms, marking its return to news content. These moves highlight a rising trend among tech giants to enhance their search capabilities with AI.

Before launching its own search engine, the Meta AI bot on Instagram and Facebook currently relies on Google and Microsoft Bing to answer questions about recent news.

The information also reported that a team has spent the last eight months building a database for the chatbot, and Meta is also developing location data to compete with Google Maps.

As Meta develops its AI-powered search engine, it aims to redefine user engagement with information and compete with Google and Microsoft. This initiative, along with moves from other tech giants, signals a transformative shift in the digital landscape.
