Meta Hires Clara Shih from Salesforce to Lead Advanced Business AI Initiative

Meta,  a Leading Innovator in AI, has hired Clara Shih, Salesforce’s former CEO of AI, to lead a newly formed Business AI group. This group will focus on creating AI tools to help businesses reach consumers through Meta’s platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Speaker: Shih

“I’m thrilled to share today that I’ve joined Meta to lead a new Business AI group. Our vision is to make cutting-edge AI accessible to every business, empowering all to succeed in the AI era.”

This move is part of Meta’s strategy to bring AI-powered tools into the advertising and content creation space. Unlike OpenAI or Google, which charge for AI services, Meta plans to use its Llama large language models to improve its apps without directly selling the AI technology.

The new tools will likely allow businesses to create AI-generated ads, which could boost Meta’s ad revenue.

Meta has been increasing AI-generated content on its platforms, such as AI-generated photos on Facebook and AI chatbots on Instagram. This shift opens up new possibilities for businesses to generate content more efficiently and at a lower cost.

John Hegeman: Meta’s VP of Monetization

“We believe these AI advancements will help businesses drive efficiencies and improve customer experiences. Under Clara’s leadership, we aim to bring this vision to life.”

Shih’s move comes after a challenging time at Salesforce, where the company faced struggles around its AI strategy. Now, at Meta, she has a chance to help lead the company’s ambitious AI future, building on her experience and vision for the next generation of business tools.

With Shih’s leadership, Meta hopes to reshape how businesses use AI to engage with customers. The goal will be to drive success and enhance digital marketing strategies.
