Microsoft is rolling out a significantly updated version of its Microsoft 365 Copilot, featuring a refined design that the company asserts loads twice as fast. This revamp aims to deliver more reliable and "structured" responses, making them easier for users to quickly scan and comprehend.

The comprehensive redesign, which is deploying across both desktop and mobile platforms, introduces a key innovation dubbed “progressive disclosure.” This intelligent feature ensures Copilot presents users with relevant tools and controls dynamically, adapting to their specific prompts rather than overwhelming them with a multitude of options upfront. Furthermore, users can now directly format text within Copilot’s enhanced prompt box, which intelligently expands to accommodate all typed or pasted content.

This strategic update from Microsoft follows a similar move by Google, which recently unveiled a major design overhaul for its Gemini AI app. Google's chatbot also gained the ability to structure its responses in alignment with user prompts, indicating a broader industry trend towards more organized AI interactions.

Seamlessly integrated within Microsoft 365 applications, Copilot can be accessed via a convenient side panel. From this interface, it can efficiently answer queries, offer suggestions, and implement changes directly within your documents. Users also have the flexibility to initiate a chat window from specific contexts, such as within a paragraph, a spreadsheet cell, or a presentation slide.
