Iran has issued a stern warning, indicating potential further attacks on data centers throughout the Middle East. This declaration comes as a direct response to persistent threats and ongoing airstrikes from the United States.

In a video featuring Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari, released late last week and widely circulated by Sunday, Iran's military articulated a clear retaliatory stance. It stated that should the U.S. proceed with threats to target Iranian civilian infrastructure, Iran would respond by striking U.S. energy and technology infrastructure within the region.

The aforementioned video, disseminated by Iran, vividly depicted a globe before strategically zooming in on the Stargate data center located in the United Arab Emirates. Accompanying this visual was a potent message: “nothing stays hidden to our sight, though hidden by Google.”

The Stargate initiative, a colossal $500 billion joint venture involving OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, was announced in January 2025 with the aim of constructing advanced AI data centers. This ambitious project initially encountered significant hurdles, reportedly stemming from funding difficulties and the financial burden of tariffs, prompting its developers to seek expansion through new international data centers.

This most recent escalation of threats follows U.S. President Trump's declaration that he would authorize strikes on Iran’s civilian infrastructure, including power plants and water desalination facilities, by the end of Tuesday. This ultimatum is contingent upon Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping artery whose closure has severely impeded international supply chain traffic since the conflict began in February.

Indeed, the ongoing conflict has already resulted in missile strikes on several data centers situated across the region.

Specifically, Iranian missiles have previously targeted Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in Bahrain and an Oracle data center in Dubai. Furthermore, Iran explicitly named and threatened technology giants Nvidia and Apple just last week.
