At IFA 2026, the spotlight was firmly on robotics, featuring humanoids, quadrupeds, and wheeled machines intended to assist with household tasks and act as companions. On a panel discussion, roboticists and entrepreneurs confidently predicted that within five years, a humanoid robot will be a common sight in homes.

I remain skeptical of this outlook. While the robots demonstrated impressive capabilities visually, I observed that behind almost every machine was a human operating it via a PlayStation controller.
