What capital investment is required to launch the inaugural, indispensable AI consumer product? The answer, it seems, could be as high as $700 million.

This figure comes from Hark, an AI laboratory dedicated to developing models and hardware for an advanced AI personal assistant. The company announced on Thursday that it had successfully closed a Series A funding round of $700 million, valuing the firm at an impressive $6 billion post-money.

This substantial "mega-round" was spearheaded by Parkway Venture Capital, with significant contributions from a diverse group of investors including Align Ventures, AMD Ventures, ARK Invest, Brookfield, Greycroft, Intel Capital, Prime Movers Lab, Qualcomm Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and TamarackGlobal.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of this significant fundraising is the scarcity of details Hark has disclosed regarding its product. Founder and CEO Brett Adcock, known for his previous ventures like robotics company Figure.AI and electric aircraft manufacturer Archer, established Hark in late 2025. He initially funded the company with $100 million of his own capital, aiming to develop an agentic AI system designed to act as a universal interface for the digital world.

Hark anticipates releasing its initial multi-modal models this summer. These models are slated to power a personal AI platform engineered to seamlessly integrate with existing products and services. Following this software launch, the company plans to introduce dedicated hardware devices specifically designed to complement these advanced systems.

The newly acquired funds will be strategically allocated towards attracting top-tier talent in hardware engineering, product design, and AI research, as well as securing essential compute resources and components. Hark currently employs 70 individuals and operates a sophisticated data center powered by Nvidia B200 GPUs.

Abidur Chowdhury, a former Apple product executive and Hark’s director of design, was approached for further details this week. While he remained tight-lipped about the specifics of his work, he did confirm that investors were highly impressed by a series of demonstrations presented by his team.

Reflecting on the current landscape of AI products, Chowdhury expressed a critical view: “I haven’t seen anything that feels like something that will really help like the normal person. People are really building things to help people make software, and it’s working, and it’s really impactful, but we haven’t really seen that for the normal person yet.”

He further elaborated that while prominent players like Anthropic and OpenAI are increasingly focusing on coding tools, Hark distinguishes itself by concentrating solely on developing intuitive interfaces and native hardware. “With this focus, with this great team that we have, and this round that we’ve raised, I think we can make something really special in this space,” Chowdhury affirmed.

Nevertheless, numerous questions persist. A significant challenge involves enabling an AI assistant to comprehend a user's life context without infringing upon the privacy of those around them or creating discomfort. Existing wearables, such as Meta’s glasses or upcoming Android spectacles, have yet to adequately address this complex issue. When pressed on how Hark intends to navigate this particular dilemma, Chowdhury offered only a smile.

“Sounds like that would make a great product.”
