Google’s NotebookLM Adds Public Sharing with AI Features

Google’s NotebookLM, an AI-powered note-taking app, now allows users to share their notebooks publicly through a simple link. This feature enables users to interact with content in new ways, such as listening to AI-generated audio overviews and engaging with FAQs. Though viewers cannot edit the content, they can still ask questions and explore the material in an interactive format. Launched in 2023 as an experimental tool, NotebookLM has quickly gained popularity for its ability to summarize various types of content, including documents, presentation slides, and YouTube videos. It can also generate podcast-style discussions about the content and engage users in conversation. The app’s mobile version was recently introduced, broadening its accessibility. Sharing a notebook publicly is as simple as selecting the “Share” button within the app, adjusting the settings to “Anyone with a link,” and copying the link for distribution via text, email, or social media.  This allows others to engage with the material even without editing capabilities. Additionally, users can share their notebooks with specific people via email and allow them to edit the content if desired. The app also supports sharing AI-generated audio overviews through the Gemini app. This update further enhances NotebookLM’s role as a valuable tool for educators, students, and professionals by providing a seamless way to collaborate and share knowledge, all powered by AI.
