Gemini 3.1 Flash Live is now at the forefront of enhancing AI audio within Search Live, delivering significantly faster and more ‘natural’ conversational experiences.

Google has announced a substantial expansion of Search Live, its innovative feature enabling users to conduct searches using both voice commands and their device's camera. This advanced AI search assistant is now accessible in over 200 countries and territories, supporting dozens of languages, as confirmed in a recent announcement on Thursday.

Initially launched broadly in the United States last September, Search Live empowers users to simply point their phone's camera at an object or scene and vocalize a query, such as "how to install a shelving unit." The AI assistant subsequently provides an immediate audio response, complemented by relevant web links for further information.

The global rollout of Search Live is powered by Google's new Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, an audio-focused AI model specifically designed to be “inherently multilingual.” This cutting-edge model not only accelerates response times but also fosters “more natural and intuitive conversations,” according to Google.

Users can engage with Search Live by opening the Google app on either Android or iOS devices and tapping the dedicated “Live” button located beneath the search bar. Alternatively, Search Live can also be accessed seamlessly through Google Lens.

In addition to these advancements, Google is concurrently rolling out its real-time translation feature for Google Translate to iOS users. This update allows iPhone owners to capture spoken language in real-time and listen to the translation directly through their headphones. This highly anticipated feature is also expanding its availability to new regions, including Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the UK, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand.
