Google continues to populate its graveyard of discontinued products with the retirement of its AI coding agent, Jules. Launched in December 2024, Jules was designed to take over coding jobs that developers prefer to avoid. However, the company has now decided to shut down the service.
Google stated that it will transfer the insights gained from Jules to its AI coding platform, Antigravity. The company explained the transition as follows:
"We’re working on bringing our learnings from Jules into @antigravity so you get the best of both worlds: autonomous remote background task execution and an agent-first development environment. As we focus on this unified experience, Jules will be winding down."
This decision highlights Google’s commitment to refining its AI development tools through a more unified platform.
