Users can now deploy their vibe-coded applications directly through the Google Play Store interface.
Subsequently, individuals using Google's AI Studio to generate custom applications no longer need to tether their devices to a computer for installation. Announced on Tuesday, this new feature is currently available in the US and enables users to publish personal apps directly to the Play Store.
While Google introduced the capability for vibe-coding Android apps back in May, the tech giant emphasizes that these custom applications remain "secure, private, and separate from the public store catalog." Users can access these apps via a standard Google account, and the company plans to introduce a feature allowing the sharing of apps with a restricted group of users in the near future.
Although this functionality simplifies testing experimental applications, Google views the service primarily as an introductory pathway for aspiring developers. Sam Bright, the company's vice president and general manager of Google Play, explains in the announcement that the platform assists developers in transitioning to a professional account, maintaining the same Trust & Safety reviews and high-quality standards required of established creators.
