Google is rolling out a comprehensive suite of new features to its Pixel phones as part of its latest March update. Among these is an enhanced capability for its Gemini AI assistant, empowering it to perform various tasks on behalf of the user, such as ordering groceries or booking transportation. This functionality, which first debuted at Samsung’s Unpacked event last week, is currently being deployed across the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL devices.

With Gemini’s advanced "agentic" feature, users can delegate tasks to the assistant for completion within specific applications, including Uber and Grubhub. The assistant operates seamlessly in the background, allowing continued phone usage, while Google assures users that they retain the ability to oversee or interrupt its operations at any given moment. This feature is also slated for availability on Samsung S26 phones, preceding the similar functionalities for Siri that have experienced considerable delays.

Alongside the Gemini update, Google is introducing several new enhancements to Circle to Search, its intuitive feature that allows users to initiate a search simply by drawing a circle around an item on their screen. Now, users across the entire Pixel 10 lineup can leverage Circle to Search not only to break down an outfit and locate individual pieces but also to access an option for virtually trying on the selected look.

Google is also refining Magic Cue, a feature designed to proactively generate context-aware suggestions across various applications, including messaging, email, weather, and phone. For instance, if a friend requests a restaurant recommendation, Magic Cue will automatically present tailored suggestions based on their known preferences. This feature is being rolled out to the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold in designated countries and languages. Furthermore, these devices will gain a new "comfort" view, which is engineered to "reduce visual stimulation from very bright or saturated colors."

Significant new features are also extending to older Pixel phone models. Pixel 8 devices and newer will now offer a fresh desktop experience when connected to an external display. Owners of Pixel 7 phones and newer can benefit from Google’s At-a-Glance widget, which provides timely updates on commute departures, potential delays, and alternative routes. Meanwhile, Pixel 6 devices and newer are gaining support for a Now Playing app, capable of identifying music playing in the vicinity, alongside custom AI-generated app icons, and the ability to view sports scores and stock market prices directly from the home or lock screen.
