Google has rolled out a significant upgrade for Gemini, empowering its chatbot to produce interactive 3D models and simulations directly in response to user queries. This new functionality enables users to engage with AI-generated models by rotating them, manipulating sliders, or inputting varying values to alter the simulation dynamically and in real-time.

In a demonstration of this capability, a request for a simulation of the Moon orbiting the Earth yielded a comprehensive 3D model offering multiple interactive controls. These included a slider to modify the Moon's orbital speed, a toggle to conceal its orbital path, a pause function for the simulation, and standard zoom and rotation options for detailed examination of the model.

This advancement positions Gemini alongside recent innovations from competing AI platforms. Anthropic's Claude recently gained the capacity to generate interactive charts, diagrams, and other visual elements, while OpenAI's ChatGPT introduced features for visualizing complex mathematical and scientific concepts. Prior to this update, Gemini's interactive output was confined to static images.

Access to this feature is available to all Gemini app users by selecting the "Pro" model within the prompt bar. Users can initiate a visualization by posing prompts such as "show me a double pendulum" or "help me visualize the Doppler effect," subsequently activating the "Show me the visualization" button located below Gemini's generated response.
