Markdown is a standard text format widely used by Large Language Models (LLMs) to preserve structured content, such as tables, headers, and bulleted lists, without the bloat associated with heavy file formats. Previously, users were required to import and convert Markdown files into the Doc format, a process that often resulted in altered formatting, stripped comments, and fragmented files.

Users will now be able to preview Markdown files directly within Drive. This feature begins rolling out to users today.
