Google's Gemini, through its innovative Personal Intelligence feature, is now capable of generating images that distinctly reflect a user's 'tastes and lifestyle' by seamlessly integrating with Google Photos.
This advanced Personal Intelligence feature empowers Gemini to draw data from various connected applications, including Google Photos, to deliver highly personalized responses. Now, this capability extends to image generation, utilizing the gathered data in conjunction with its Nano Banana 2 image model to craft visuals tailored to an individual's unique context.
Users can engage with the feature through prompts such as "Design my dream house" or "Create a picture of my desert island essentials." The resulting images, as Google highlights in a blog post, will "automatically reflect your specific tastes and lifestyle, gleaned from the Google apps you’ve connected to." Elijah Lawal, a spokesperson, clarified to The Verge that this integration leverages existing labels within Google Photos to identify individuals like the user, their friends, and family, which then informs the Nano Banana 2 model in creating the personalized image.
Addressing privacy considerations, Google assures users that opting into Personal Intelligence means the company will not "directly train" its AI models on their private Google Photos library. However, it does acknowledge training on "limited info," specifically citing "specific prompts in Gemini and the model’s responses" as data points used.
The rollout of this feature is anticipated "over the next few days," initially reaching eligible AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers within the United States. Google has also indicated that the functionality will soon extend to Gemini on Chrome desktops and become available to "more users" in the near future.
