Gamma, an innovative AI-powered platform renowned for creating presentations and websites, is expanding its capabilities with the launch of a new image-generation product. This strategic move aims to enhance its competitive standing against industry giants like Canva and Adobe by enabling users to produce comprehensive marketing assets.
Dubbed Gamma Imagine, the company's latest offering empowers users to leverage text prompts for generating brand-specific content. This includes dynamic interactive charts and visualizations, diverse marketing collateral, engaging social graphics, and informative infographics. Complementing its existing AI toolkit, Gamma currently provides access to over 100 templates, facilitating the creation of a wide array of necessary assets.
To ensure robust, data-driven asset generation, Gamma Imagine will seamlessly integrate with a suite of powerful tools. These integrations include leading AI models such as ChatGPT and Claude, alongside workflow automation platforms like Make and Zapier, enterprise solutions like Atlassian, and productivity enhancers such as n8n and Superhuman Go.
Grant Lee, Gamma's CEO and co-founder, shared insights with TechCrunch regarding the impetus behind this expansion: “As we started working with a lot of our early users, we realized that in the presentations they want to create, there was a variety of graphical design use cases that they all also had.” He further elaborated, “So we worked alongside them to develop basically a new set of tools that allows them to go far beyond just the traditional presentation format.”
Lee positions Gamma strategically in the market, seeing it as a crucial bridge between highly specialized professional design tools like Adobe or Figma and more traditional, legacy applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
He articulated Gamma's core mission: “We think we can serve the very long tail of knowledge workers and business professionals whose demand for their job is to communicate visually, but they just don’t have the tools. They need to pull in a design resource to be able to help with this stuff, and we want to make an-AI native approach that serves their needs in the sort of middle that we feel is really underserved.”
Gamma's rapid growth was underscored by its Series B funding round last November, which secured $68 million led by a16z, valuing the company at $2.1 billion. At that time, Gamma reported an impressive Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $100 million and a user base of 70 million. The company has since informed TechCrunch that its user count is now approaching the 100 million mark.
