Bixby 2.0 Samsung’s AI Assistant Goes Global and Steals the Show

Samsung’s upgraded Bixby AI assistant is set to go global with the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S25 series. The powerful new version of Bixby, which was initially released in China on the Galaxy W25 and W25 Flip, will soon be rolled out to international markets.  This expansion promises to bring a host of exciting features to users worldwide, offering a more advanced and smarter AI experience. The upgraded Bixby assistant boasts a new, customized large language model (LLM), designed to enhance its natural language processing capabilities. With this improvement, Bixby can now understand and respond to more complex queries, aligning with the performance of other major AI models like Google’s Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT.  Moreover, By combining Samsung’s Gauss generative AI model with Google’s Gemini, the new Bixby is poised to offer users an even more robust and sophisticated experience. This upgraded assistant will enable Galaxy S25 users to perform more complex tasks, such as creating PDFs and documents, while also answering more challenging questions and providing educational guidance on the device’s built-in features.  A redesigned visual interface will further enhance the user experience, making it more intuitive and engaging. The new version of Bixby is expected to be released alongside the One UI 7 update, which will be based on Android 15. Originally planned for a debut in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 in July, the global rollout of the new Bixby assistant was delayed due to scheduling issues. However, Samsung’s decision to release it alongside the Galaxy S25 series marks a significant step in the evolution of the voice assistant.  This move will surely align with Samsung’s ambition to make Bixby a leading AI assistant, competing with Google’s offerings on its own devices. While Samsung hopes that the Galaxy S25 users will gravitate toward Bixby, Google’s voice assistant will still be available as an alternative. By integrating its own generative AI model and improving the assistant’s capabilities, Samsung is betting that Bixby will become the go-to assistant for its users, enhancing their overall smartphone experience.
