Foxconn, NVIDIA Launch AI Supercomputer in Taiwan

Foxconn and NVIDIA have announced a major collaboration with the Taiwan government to build an advanced AI factory supercomputer, aimed at accelerating innovation across Taiwan’s technology landscape. Revealed at COMPUTEX in Taipei, the project will be powered by 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and operated by Big Innovation Company, a Foxconn subsidiary. This move will greatly expand AI computing access for Taiwan’s researchers, startups, and industries. The initiative is supported by Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, which plans to use the AI cloud computing resources to boost AI development and integration in sectors like research, manufacturing, transportation, and smart cities. Semiconductor giant TSMC is among the key stakeholders that will benefit, using the infrastructure to speed up its R&D capabilities. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that AI is ushering in a new industrial revolution, and this collaboration is designed to help Taiwan lead in this transformation. Foxconn Chairman Young Liu echoed this vision, highlighting the importance of building infrastructure that connects citizens, enterprises, and government through AI-powered solutions. Dr. C.C. Wei, CEO of TSMC, noted that the company will leverage this infrastructure to drive advancements in semiconductor technology. Meanwhile, Science Minister Wu Cheng-Wen outlined Taiwan’s broader goal of creating a national AI ecosystem, with the southern region serving as a hub for innovation, smart cities, and AI-driven economic growth. The AI factory will run on NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra systems and feature high-speed networking technologies like NVLink and Spectrum-X Ethernet. Big Innovation Company, now an official NVIDIA Cloud Partner, will also join the NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton marketplace, giving local startups and researchers enhanced access to powerful AI resources.
