A recent report from Bloomberg indicates that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has formally intervened in a lawsuit initiated by xAI. This legal challenge targets Colorado's Consumer Protections for Artificial Intelligence law, which is set to come into effect on June 30th.

In its official filing, the government's legal team asserts that the Colorado statute violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. This contention stems from the law's requirement for developers to take "reasonable care to protect consumers" from algorithmic discrimination, a mandate the DOJ argues is unconstitutional.
