Encore AI, a burgeoning startup specializing in the analysis of corporate customer interactions to develop and deploy AI voice agents, has successfully secured $30 million in a Series A funding round spearheaded by Team8. These AI agents are designed to either augment existing customer support and sales teams or function entirely independently.

Established in 2022 by CEO Dvir Ginzburg under its initial name, Insait IO, the company initially focused on creating recommendation software tailored for financial advisors and relationship managers. Following its rebranding as Encore AI, the startup has evolved this foundational system into a comprehensive platform. This platform meticulously analyzes conversations between a company's staff and its clientele, pinpointing the strategies that yield successful results and subsequently leveraging these insights to train its sophisticated AI agents.

As articulated by Ginzburg, the outcome of this process is an AI agent that effectively harnesses and integrates the most potent elements from the operational playbooks employed by an organization's human workforce.

Ginzburg elaborated in an exclusive interview with TechCrunch, stating, “Sometimes our agents even tell the jokes that the relationship managers are telling, or give the anecdotes or examples that the relationship managers are giving, because we literally run by the playbooks that we see working […] The agent we build is a package of many different playbooks that have worked throughout the process.” This highlights the AI's capacity to emulate successful human interaction patterns.

Ginzburg refers to this proprietary methodology as “interaction mining.” Encore AI's platform systematically gathers a wide array of communication data, including call recordings, emails, and text messages, integrating this information with existing CRM systems. It then meticulously segments customer interactions into distinct stages, analyzing each segment to discern which conversational elements effectively propelled the process forward and which proved ineffective.

This analytical approach empowers Encore's AI agents, and by extension its clients, to ascertain the most efficacious strategies for any given customer or interaction, recognizing that individual employees may exhibit varying levels of effectiveness at different junctures within a sales or customer success journey, Ginzburg explained to TechCrunch.

Beyond agent training, the company's robust platform also provides organizations with the capability to pinpoint deficiencies within their current customer support and sales operations, uncover areas of inefficiency and friction, and identify critical underlying issues.

Encore asserts that its AI agents possess the versatility to engage directly with customers through either voice or text channels. Furthermore, they can function as invaluable assistants to human employees, offering real-time recommendations for responses and tactical approaches during ongoing conversations.

Globally, Encore AI currently serves over 40 enterprise clients, with financial institutions constituting the predominant segment, Ginzburg disclosed. He further noted that the company's annual recurring revenue has seen a substantial increase of over fivefold since its seed round, which occurred less than 18 months prior, although specific revenue figures or valuation details were not released.

While Encore AI holds an early position in this burgeoning market, its competitive edge may face challenges from major CRM providers such as Salesforce, SAP, Zoho, and HubSpot, which possess the potential to develop comparable AI functionalities leveraging their extensive customer data. However, Ginzburg argues that mere data access is insufficient. He posits that established vendors would be required to undertake a significant overhaul of their existing processes to genuinely foundationalize historical customer conversations for their AI agents, a core methodology employed by Encore.

He further elaborated, stating, “The biggest players that we are competing against, they don’t see [conversational] history as a data point that they are utilizing. For them to start asking for conversational data with their current employees will require changing their entire implementation stack and technological stack.” This emphasizes the deep integration and specialized approach Encore takes with conversational data.

Additional participants in the funding round included Planven, Lukatz, and Garage, alongside several banks and insurers. Notably, Encore highlighted that some of the financial institutions contributing to the investment round had initially experienced its product as customers before opting to become investors.

Looking ahead, the startup intends to strategically allocate the capital raised from its Series A round towards scaling its sales operations within the U.S. market and expanding the deployment of its advanced platform to a greater number of prominent financial institutions.
